Greta Amend entered the entertainment industry early as a professional actress.
She studied drama at the Hannover College for Music and Theatre from 1983 to 1987.
Between 1990 and 1992 she pursued her acting career by working with Anatolij Vasil`jev at the Theatre of Dramatic Arts in Moscow.
As part of the cooperation between the International Theatre Centre Akt-zent and the GITIS Academy Moscow she studied master classes in acting and directing, with various acting techniques based on the Russian school, from 1996 to 1998. Amongst her teachers were Prof. Vassili Skorik, Prof. Dr. Jurij Alschitz, and the Rector, Prof. Dr. Sergej Issayev.
Greta has been working in theatre and film productions with numerous foreign and local companies in Europe, e.g. Sophiensäle Berlin, Theater zum westlichen Stadthirschen Berlin, The Theatre of Dramatic Art, Anatolij Vasil`jev, Moscow, Theatre Mali Warsaw, Academy of the Arts Berlin, Gasteig München, Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin, GITIS Akademie Moscow, AKT Zent Rome, Theater Zerbrochene Fenster Berlin, Theater am Halleschen Ufer, Teamworx, Grundy UFA, Studio Hamburg, Nova Film, Journal Film, Televersal, Zentaur Film, German Film and Television Academy dffb/ Arte / KHM Film School Cologne.
In 2002 she launched a new career as Casting Director for Grundy Ufa TV Production in Potsdam Babelsberg, being responsible for the serial casting of one of Europe’s most popular daily soap operas "Gute Zeiten/Schlechte Zeiten”.
Since 2005 Greta has been an independent casting director for cinema productions. Several projects followed, including a score of independent features. In addition, she teaches her acting-workshop “Energizing the actor” and the students of the German Film- and Television School Berlin (dffb) in her workshop "Respect for Actors" covering the fields of Casting and Acting.
She lives and works in Berlin.
